In May 2019 large scale portraits of Holocaust survivors were positioned along Vienna’s Ringstrasse. This was not the first exhibition of Luigi Toscana’s “Gegen des Vergessen,” but it is the only time some of the exhibition was slashed, let alone vandalized at all. The films encompass a reaction to this unthinkable event, juxtaposing images highlighting the city’s response to the deed with text from Hannah Arendt’s “The Origins of Totalitarianism.”
